Carluke Rovers 1-1 Greenock Juniors
League Match

John Paul Dow grabbed Greenock's equaliser

Greenock travelled through to Lesmahagow to play already relegated Carluke looking ot pick up the 3 points to steer them clear of relegation but put in another tired and jaded performance. Greenock controlled much of this match and early efforts went in from Lappin and Dow but the Carluke keeper wasn't overly troubled. Carluke were putting in some dangerous crosses but the Greenock defence were dealing with them reasonably comfortably. Carluke opened the scoring in this game 30 minutes in when a free kick from wide was drilled in low and skipped up off the greasy surface deceiveing Thomas Docherty who knocked it up into the air and into the path of the Carluke no.9 who made no mistake by thundering his volley into the net via Meechan's crossbar. Greenock pushed forward to try and equalise before half time but the score remained 1-0 to Carluke at half-time.

Half-time 0 - 1

Andy Monaghan came on for the start of the second halfin an effort to get Greenock back into the game. Greenock should have equalised minutes in when Alan Mcintyre hit the post after a goal mouth scramble. Graham Black then had a go but his effort sailed wide of the target. Greenock were dominating and the next ggod chance fell to Lappin as he headered wide from a Gus Gault free kick. With 30 mintes remaining things got a bit harder for Greenock when McMillan was shown a straight red card for words said to the referee after another starnge decision from the man in the middle who seemed to be playing with his own set of rules. Greenock did not change there shape and stayed with a 2 at the back of Docherty and McAllister as they tried to get something fro this game. The goal that Greenock's domination deserved arrived with 15 minutes remaining. Andy Monaghan fired in a free kick that the keeper could only palm onto the post and John Paul Dow was first to react to knock home. Carluke had the ball in the Greenock net shortly after but the number 11 was clearly in an offside position and it was rightly chalked off.Greenock did not settle for the point and tried to find the goal that could have put them safe but it was not to be and the must now go to Benburb on Tuesday night where a point is required to ensure safety.
