Greenock travelled down to Darvel for 2nd round of the OVD Scottish cup and were unlucky not to have won it first time round.
Greenock were dealt a massive blow in 6 minutes as Monk was forced to leave the game after an awkward fall on his ankle, and with no other substitute keeper on the bench up stepped Thomas Docherty to take his place between 'the sticks'. Black had Greenocks first effort at goal but his strike was wide after being found by Barnes. A hefty challenge on the edge of the box by Foreman results in him being cautioned and from the resulting free-kick Rankin comes close with a header. Greenock had the perfect chance to grab the lead on 42 minutes as Flynn was sent tumbling in the box, up stepped Lappin to strike his penalty past Summerville's right hand post.

A short corner from the right finds Power unmarked on the edge of the box his mishit shot falls to Barnes and his shot is blocked. The heavy conditions were starting to cause havoc with sloppy passing and bad tackling coming from both teams. Monaghan then pulls out a fine save from Summerville and from the follow up Black strkes the post. Jack is replaced by McIntyre on 70 mins, and after good play down the left wing finds Black at the front post but again his effort is just off target. Greenock get the deserved lead with 15 minutes remaining as a well worked corner kick by Dow and Black sees the latter skipping past two defenders before cutting back into Andy Monaghan's path to drive the ball home from 8 yards. With time running out and Greenock looking good for the win the referee awards a dubious penalty as Flynn and Gilroy clash and it was Paul Gilroy himself who took the penalty to send Docherty the wrong way.
