Dunipace 3 - 2 Greenock Juniors
League
Greenock's Gordon Lappin shoots wide of Prowser's right hand post.
Greenock suffered their second league defeat of the season after going down 3-2 to 'the pace'. Both teams started this game with a frantic pace with end to end stuff keeping both sets of defences on their toes. Greenock's Docherty had the first real half chance of the match after a scramble in the box but Reid done well to block his strike. Dunipace got the crucial first goal on 25 minutes after Jack gave away a needless freekick on the edge of the box, and from Grant's cross Jason Strathdee was on hand to header past Monk from 8 yards. Dunipace's striker Glasgow then blasted over the bar from 7 yards, and the same player had a shot well saved by Monk after a 25 yard strike. Greenock's best move of the match nearly resulted in a goal, as Lappin found Barnes on the left who played it down the line for Dow to lay off to Lappin but his effort just crazed Prowser's right hand post.
Half Time 1 - 0
Greenock got back into the match on 50 minutes as Jack's corner kick was perfectly met by Alan Barnes to head past Browser for 1-1. Only a great save by Prowser's legs stopped Greenock going in front as he saved Flynn's bullet header. By now Greenock were well on top and it was only a matter of time before they got in front and thats exactly what they done just after the hour mark as Andy Monaghan put them them 2-1 up after turning Morrison before firing a low shot past the helpless Prowser. Only the width of the post denied Monaghan of his second and that cushion Greenock craved for after a curler from the edge of the box. Greenock were dealt a blow in 80 minutes as poor marking allowed 'Pace' striker McKinlay to fire past the stranded Monk from the edge of the 18 yard box, and just when it seemed Greenock would leave with a point up stepped substitute MacKay to blast into the roof of the net in the final minute after a slip by McIlvogue.
