McIntyre scores a double
Greenock progressed into the 3rd round of this years West Of Scotland Cup with Aldo Mcintyre grabbing both goals. The first chance of the match fell to Monaghan but his glancing header at the front post goes wide. Monaghan then cuts inside from the left before unleashing a fierce strike in which 'the pace' keeper done well to save. A deep cross by Barnes to the back post finds Robertson unmarked but his header is straight at pace's keeper. The 1st goal duly arrives on 25 minutes, from Dow's corner Aldo McIntyre found himself in acres of space to blast the ball into the roof of the net to give Greenock a deserved lead. Lappin's shot from the edge of the box is easily saved by Pace's keeper. Greenock ended the half on a high and only a last ditch tackle by Morrison prevented Monaghan scoring after wriggling his way into the box.

Greenock should have been 2 up early in the second half as Monaghan powered down the the left wing before cutting back and losing possession to Reid when he should have squared to the waiting McIntyre who was free in the box. Dunipace started to creep back into it as they went in search of an equiliser but found a brick wall in the shape of Docherty, McMillan & McAllister. Dow and Robertson were replaced by Gault and Black and it was the two subs who combined to set up McIntyre for Greenock's second. A short free-kick by Gault finds Black his teasing cross into the box is missed by everyone and Aldo McIntyre is on hand to nod past the helpless keeper for his 2nd of the match. Mcintyre nearly claimed his hat-trick 5 minutes later as Lappin fed him from a well worked free-kick but with the angles against him and on his weaker side he blasted straight at the keeper. The last chance of the match fell to Black, as he won the ball in the midfield he fed Monaghan who held it up before playing it back into Black's path his first time effort had the beating of the keeper not of the crossbar.
