Greenock Juniors 0-0 Dunipace
League Match
Action from the Stalemate
Greenock met up with Dunipace for the 3rd time this season but neither side managed to break the deadlock onthe very heavy Ravenscraig pitch. Greenock were first to threaten when a Stewart Jack Corner was met by Gordon Lappin at the front post but he sent his effort wide of the upright. Dunipace had a good opportunity shortly after when McAllister was caught on the ball at the half way line and the Dunipace centre forward went through one on one with Meechan but the keeper made an excellent save to keep the scores level. Greenock continued to threaten with the next chance falling to John Paul Dow. He worked a throw in with Graham Black but his effort from 8 yards went wide of the keepers right hand post. Thomas Docherty then created the next opportunity when he beat his man wide on the left and crossed for Graham Black but he sent his header high. Dunipace were threatening with there long throw but Meechan in the Greenock goal was never really troubled. Alan Mcintyre then had an opportunity from a Graham Black cross but header also went high.
Half-time 0 - 0
with the park now in a bad way very little football was being played by either side but it was Dunipace who were creating the better chances in the 2nd period. Kenny Meechan was called into action shortly after the restart when Dunpiace made ground down their right wing. The resultant cutback was met by the Dunipace striker but Meechan was on hand to parry. Greenock had alot of possesion but never tested the Visitors keeper with any chances created all off target. Greenock were reduced to 10 men for the final 10 minutes of the game when Pat McIlvogue was red carded for a second bookable offence for a 2 footed challenge. Greenock saw the game out, for a share of the points that over the piece was probably a fair result.
