Greenock Juniors 1-2 St Anthony's
League Match

Greenock goalscorer Gordon Lappin
Greenock played out this final game of the season knowing that as long as they avoided a 8 goal defeat their place in next season's Central League Division One. the game played out like a meaningless game with the small crowd that turned up on a miserable Greenock Friday night not getting much entertainment. The opening goal of this match came from the home sides Gordon Lappin. The Ants conceded a free kick 22 yards out and Lappin curled his effort around the wall and into the keeper's bottom left hand corner. The Ant levelled the scores prior to half time when their triailsit strikes picked the ball up at the back post and skipped past 2 challenges before placing huigh into Meechan's left hand corner
Half-time 1 - 1
The second half was a bit of a non-event with not many chances created by either side. Best efforts from Greenock came from Black and Docherty but nothing that overly troubled the Ants keeper. The Ants almost got in front when Meechan cleared from the right back position and it fell to the Ants Dickson who's volley from over 30 yards came crashing back of the bar and was knocked away to safety by Martin Power. Ants evetually got the winner when a cross from the right was smashed into the roof of the net by Lennox. The game was played out and Greenock will be glad to put this season behinf them and look to improvement for next season's campaign.
